Radiotherapy Physicist Week 1

My new desk detritus!

I’m one whole week into my career as a radiotherapy physicist! I’ve got my professional hedgehogs mug, my bunnies 2020 calendar, my homemade diary cover and I am ready to smash it!

I have learnt an astonishing amount in just one week, from the uses of in-vivo dosimetry to the use of optical surface imaging to set patients up. But the greatest thing I’ve been introduced to this week is the array of women in physics here.

I know it shouldn’t surprise me but the sheer number means that between us we subvert each and every stereotype about women in physics that you can throw at us and it’s beautiful. This is how a scientific workplace should look. Women everywhere, being great at their jobs, having families if they want to and being super encouraging of everyone.

Also there was an email sent around with “Dosimetry graph of the month” as the subject so I think I’m going to fit in just fine here 🙂
